Role Summary:
The Technical Engineer – Cloud & Utility is responsible for providing technical expertise, support, and implementation of cloud-based and utility services. This role includes cloud administration, solution deployment, testing, and assisting in customer proof-of-concepts (POCs). The Technical Engineer will also provide technical assistance across infrastructure domains including virtualization, storage, backup, compute, networking, security, and databases. Additionally, the role supports cloud assessments, migrations, compliance to best practices, and contributes to the development of organizational standards and capabilities for cloud services.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities:
Cloud and Infrastructure Support
• Undertake cloud administration responsibilities across assigned platforms.
• Participate in cloud component or product testing, deployments, upgrades, and
patching.
• Provide technical assistance during setup, configuration, and deployment in areas including virtualization, storage, backup, compute, networking, security, databases, and internet technologies (e.g., email, web servers, web services).
Customer and Project Engagement
• Assist in conducting technical POCs with customers.
• Support cloud assessments and migrations, including evaluating compliance to best practices and developing remediation roadmaps.
• Act as technical lead in projects when required, covering system integration, assessments, migrations, or upgrades.
• Work with technology partners to resolve technical issues and validate solutions.
Knowledge Sharing and Standards Development
• Conduct knowledge-sharing sessions for internal teams on features, product roadmaps, and technology comparisons.
• Contribute to the development of cloud services standards, best practices, and
organizational capabilities.
• Assist in tender and bid preparation with technical input.
Education and Experience:
Qualifications: Advanced Diploma or Degree in Information Technology or equivalent.
Relevant Industry Experience: Minimum 3 years’ experience in IT environments, with exposure to at least three of the following areas: virtualization, cloud services, storage, backup, compute, networking, or security.
